Patricia Louise Holt-Edwards aka Ms Patti LaBelle celebrated her 68th birthday yesterday. I love, love, LOVE this woman.
In honor of Patti LaBelle’s 68th birthday, Essence.com did a small write up with a photo gallery of some of the wild and wacky hair styles she’s has worn through the years. Once I found out she had a bday yesterday and saw the pictures, I morphed into super sleuth and googled her. I can’t help it. It’s what I do.
(One thing that always amazes me is how little you actually know about people you think you know. Which leads me to ask; Why do we think we know famous people anyway? What is that all about?)
Any who, I found out this woman never slows down. For instance - I had no idea she’d written 5 books. I had the pleasure of reading her first book which was her autobiography, “Don’t Block The Blessings” published in 1998. (Maybe that’s the reason I thought I knew her?) The book was a fantastic peek inside her life and mind.
The second thing of which I had no clue is she has produced a signature line of sauces, spices and marinades under the name Lady Marmalade. They come in all kinds of flavors that make me was to run to the grocery store: Jerk Pepper Beef Marinade, Apple Cider Pork Marinade, Lemon Herb Seafood Marinade, (pictured) Spicy Gold BBQ Sauce and of course, Super Woman Hot Sauce. That’s the first one I’m going to buy! :)
Live Beautifully!

Hello! Patti La Belle is an inspiration also for being successful while keeping a positive spirit! I mean have you ever heard a bad word against this woman? No. She shows that talents, drive and ambition can exist without hurting others. And looks good doing it.

Oh my… I had no idea that Patti LaBelle was 68. What a classy (and sassy) lady! I think my fav photo of her is the one you have at the first of your article with the spiky hair – what a woman to be able to wear that hair and let it look so classy!!

I had no idea Ms Patti did so many things besides just music. I mean sauces. Good southern food I bet.
