Welcome to 31 Days 2012 – brainchild of the nester, a wonderful blogger who challenges us to write each day for the month of October on a topic that might inspire a community. The topic is of your choice. I learned of the challenge yesterday via Lisa – Jo Baker and decided to join.

I chose “Celebrating Your Beauty.”  I figured if nothing else came of it, I’d enjoy telling you every single day for a whole month that – You Are Beautiful

When GiaVanne’s Gems was created, it was meant to be a happy, “feel good” place for women like me. Women over 50 who aren’t ready to fade into the background or live on life’s fringes. We’d much rather live our lives ”Out Loud,”  which is a feat, when you consider the way our psyches are bombarded with messages and images that tell us we are undesirable, unwanted, and basically no longer serve a purpose in the grand scheme of our youth obsessed society.

I believe it’s important to counteract those negatives with powerful positives. We should  remind ourselves and each other that our beauty, our power and our strength comes from a place that goes much deeper  than our physical appearance. Join me for 31 days of quotes, declarations, affirmations and what ever else comes to mind, as long as it Celebrates. :)

…The true beauty of a woman is reflected in her soul. It is the caring that she lovingly gives, the passion that she shows. The beauty of a woman grows with the passing years. ~ Audrey Hepburn ~

I’d love to hear your thoughts on this. How do you think we can – individually or collectively – inspire ourselves and other mature women to believe in and celebrate our beauty. Leave your thoughts in a comment.

  Live Beautifully!
